We were wrapping rehearsal for the reading of my play Seeing Maya, a Tel Aviv love story, at the Atlas Intersections Festival in DC, when our lead actor, Lisa Hodsoll, asked a question about one of the very lasts beats in the play. I don’t remember the question, just that director, Raghad Makhlouf, and I, disagreed on the answer. It was going on 5pm; we’d been rehearsing since 8am, and the reading was at 7pm.

When I meet people I like, I feel obligated to tell them I’m an immortalist, because otherwise, how would they know? As one, a writer friend of some repute, told me: ‘You look normal.’ People want to know what it means to be an immortalist, and I usually say something like: an immortalist is someone who thinks you should live forever. Or: An immortalist is someone who thinks you should be able to live as long as you want to. But that doesn’t really tell enough.

Abstract A remarkable characteristic of quantum computing is the potential for reliable computation despite faulty qubits. This can be achieved through quantum error correction, which is typically implemented by repeatedly applying static syndrome checks, permitting correction of logical information. Recently, the development of time-dynamic approaches to error correction has enabled different codes and implementations that do not rely on static syndrome measurements.
