I was probably about five years old the first time my mother sent me after my father to assist with a technical fix in our house. She said something like, “Go downstairs and help your father with the furnace”. My reply of “What do you want me to do?” was met with “Our odds of survival are higher with you there.” So I trudged down to the laundry room where the furnace was located to assist.

Virginia Legislature Passes High-Risk AI Regulation Bill | JD Supra

Virginia's legislature has passed a comprehensive bill regulating high-risk AI systems, joining Colorado and other states addressing AI regulation. The Act requires developers and deployers of high-risk AI systems to implement safeguards against algorithmic discrimination. If signed, the Act will take effect July 1, 2026, with exclusive enforcement by the Virginia attorney general and civil penalties of up to $10,000 per willful violation.
