Rianna Poiana-Lazarec died on January 6, 2025, after being found unresponsive in her bedroom at Sherwood Oaks Hospital in Mansfield two days prior. Her inquest, taking place in front of a jury at Nottingham Coroner's Court, heard evidence on June 18, from staff members Helen Newton, Abigail Drumm and Robert Sullivan, who all worked at the Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust-run facility in the months leading up to Ms Poiana-Lazarec's passing.

Rianna Poiana-Lazarec died on January 6, 2025, after being found unresponsive on Beech Ward, at Sherwood Oaks Hospital in Mansfield. Her inquest, which began on June 15, was told on the first day of evidence that hourly observational checks were not increased in frequency – despite the 20-year-old having self-harmed significantly in the days prior to her death.

Plans for thousands of homes between Tollerton and Gamston remain under discussion more than a decade after the land was first identified for development. The site, which includes the former Nottingham City Airport land, was allocated for housing in Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Local Plan in 2014. The wider proposals could eventually see around 4,000 homes built, alongside roads, schools, shops, employment space, community facilities and other infrastructure.
