What was your first job as a journalist?
My first job as a journalist was as a reporter for Esquire Magazine. It was an incredible experience that helped me develop my skills in storytelling, research, and understanding what makes a compelling story. Working at such a respected publication really shaped my approach to journalism.

What does it mean to be a journalist?
Being a journalist means being a storyteller, a truth-seeker, and a voice for the people. It’s about staying curious, asking the right questions, and presenting information in a way that’s clear, accurate, and impactful. Journalists have a responsibility to inform, challenge, and sometimes even inspire change, all while upholding integrity and ethics in their work

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
I prefer to be pitched via email with a clear and concise subject line. A brief summary of the story idea, along with why it's relevant and timely, goes a long way. I appreciate when pitches are tailored to my interests—especially if they tie into menswear, fashion history, or anything that aligns with my brand POTRO. I like to get straight to the point, but I’m always open to a creative angle that stands out!
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
I use a variety of tools and software to help with my work. For writing and editing, I rely on Google Docs and Microsoft Word. For managing my workflow and deadlines, I use Trello and Slack to stay organized and collaborate. I also use Adobe Photoshop and Canva for any graphic design work or visual content, and sometimes social media management tools like Hootsuite to schedule posts. It’s all about staying efficient and keeping everything streamlined
What's your favorite social network?
My favorite social networks are TikTok and Instagram. TikTok is great for quick, creative content that feels fresh and fun, while Instagram is perfect for sharing more polished, visual storytelling. Both platforms offer unique ways to connect and engage with people.
Who do you wish followed you?
I would love to have people who are passionate about fashion history, good style, and clothes that make a statement follow me. I’m especially interested in connecting with those who appreciate menswear and want to look their best. Additionally, I want to build a Latinx audience around my menswear brand, POTRO, and foster a community that’s excited about fashion and the stories behind it.
Why did you become a journalist?
I became a journalist because I’ve always been passionate about storytelling and sharing important information with people. Journalism allows me to explore different subjects, ask meaningful questions, and give a voice to stories that need to be heard. It’s a way to engage with the world and make an impact, and I love the constant learning and variety it brings.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Yes, I worked for my high school newspaper. I was involved in writing and editing articles, and I also helped with some of the layout design. I enjoyed covering a variety of topics, from school events to local issues. It was a great experience that helped me improve my writing and taught me the importance of teamwork and deadlines
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
Although I don’t have one particular favorite story, last year I reported on Stefano Ricci's menswear show in Egypt, and that was truly a magnificent experience. It was a spectacular fashion story that blended history, menswear, and a breathtaking location. The entire event was filled with so many layers of meaning, and I’m proud to have been part of sharing it

When's the best time to pitch you?
The best time to pitch me would be during business hours, preferably in the morning when I'm reviewing my emails and planning my day. However, I’m open to pitches at any time as long as they’re clear, concise, and relevant to the topics I cover.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
The best pitch I ever got was the opportunity to cover Elon Musk for Forbes Life. It was a chance to dive deep into the mind of one of the most influential figures in tech and business. The pitch was compelling because it tied into larger conversations around innovation, sustainability, and the future—topics I’m always eager to explore.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
The worst pitch I ever got was for a company that wasn’t even operating anymore. It was frustrating because it wasted both my time and the person pitching’s time. It’s always important to ensure that the company or product you’re pitching is active and relevant before reaching out.
What's your favorite drink?
My favorite drink is water, specifically Evian water. I love the crisp, clean taste, and staying hydrated is essential throughout the day.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
When I’m not at a computer, you’ll most likely find me at the gym, at the beach, reading, or socializing with friends. I like to stay active and unwind with a good book or enjoy some time outdoors.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
Aside from my own, I enjoy reading trade publications like The Business of Fashion (BOF) and Women's Wear Daily (WWD) for industry insights. As for lifestyle magazines, I read most of them and typically choose based on the cover story. It’s all about the topic that grabs my attention or aligns with current trends I'm interested in.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
The most common misperception about my beat is that fashion journalism is all about glamorous runway shows and trends. While those are certainly important, it’s actually much more about the deeper cultural conversations, the impact of fashion on society, and how personal style and sustainability are shaping the industry. There’s a lot more substance to it than just what’s hot right now.
