Dozens of staff members at the University of Nottingham have taken to the picket line ahead of a 61-day strike over drastic cuts to the workforce. The initial day of industrial action on Friday (May 22) comes before University and College Union members are proposing to strike for 61 days from Monday, June 1, to Friday, July 31. The strike action was called by the union as the university plans to cut more than 700 jobs and shut down more than 40 degree courses, including modern languages and music.
