New Developments Set To Accelerate MIPI CSI-2 Adoption In Automotive
As Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) become more sophisticated, cars are equipped with an increasing number of cameras and sensors. To support features like automated parking, adaptive cruise control, and enhanced night vision, sensors source multiple wavelengths and deploy cameras with higher quality data formats, higher frame and refresh rates.
The Only Ones | By Jessica Barksdale, Jackleen Holton, Elizabeth Knapp & Courtney LeBlanc | Issue 572 | The Sun Magazine
Old Mom Jessica Barksdale I failed at attachment. I failed at responsibility. I failed at wisdom, nurture, nature, separation, and calm. I excelled at role model, if what you wanted was wretched. I passed tired with flying colors, scored the best marks in pain. The legacy of all this is here with me now, a rubber-band ball of Can I have a do-over? No one died, but. No one is president or in jail. No one sings from the hilltops or injects fentanyl under a bridge.

Della has tutoring on Tuesday nights. Once a week I leave campus early, pick her up from school, drive her to the tutor’s apartment, and sit in the car for ninety minutes. I’ve tried a couple of other arrangements, but this is the one that works. In the spring and fall, when it’s still light, I bring a two-inch stack of student essays with me. They keep me company as I wait.
The Sun Magazine | The Psychic Is In | By Mishele Maron | Issue 572
In the summer of 1980, when I was ten years old, a stranger sneaked through our trailer’s unlocked side door at 2 AM. He lifted a few gold-plated necklaces from my mother’s wooden jewelry box, then entered my bedroom. When I woke, the man pulled his hands out of my underwear. I sat up and watched as he adjusted himself awkwardly, almost apologetically, in the chair he’d dragged from the kitchen to my bedside. His dark hair was illuminated by moonlight streaming through the windows.
MIPI DSI-2 & VESA Video Compression Enable Next-Generation Displays
By Joseph Rodriguez and Simon Bussières It is hard to believe, but it has been 20 years since MIPI Alliance was first founded. The organization was originally formed to standardize the video interface technologies for cameras and displays in phones, with the MIPI acronym standing for Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI). As the mobile industry has evolved, MIPI Alliance has evolved with it. MIPI is now a name, not an acronym, and the scope of the organization has expanded considerably.
ADAS: MIPI Is Key
Modern cars are brimming with cameras, sensors, and displays that need increasing amounts of bandwidth without adding undue cabling weight. Building on the enormous design and manufacturing base which made high-resolution, miniaturized digital cameras possible for mobile phones, the universe of MIPI applications has expanded to the automotive world.
MIPI On Wheels: Enabling ADAS Applications
The explosion of cameras and sensors in modern cars means an increasing reliance on interface specifications. Formed in 2003, the Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) Alliance brought together leading system and chip companies to provide standards for the essential video interface technologies for cameras and displays in phones.
MIPI DSI-2 With VESA DSC Drives Performance For Next-Generation Displays
Mobile display requirements have advanced rapidly over the past few years, driving an increased need for video compression. The Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) Alliance was formed in 2003 to address the fragmentation in the essential video interface technologies for cameras and displays in phones. Over the years, the alliance has significantly expanded its scope to publish specifications covering physical layer, multimedia, chip-to-chip, control/data, and debug/trace and software.
Pushing The Envelope With HBM2E Memory
Under the hood of an HBM2E memory interface with enough bandwidth for AI and HPC applications. In September, Rambus announced the achievement of reaching 4 gigabits per second (Gbps) operation with our HBM2E memory interface. This milestone was demonstrated in silicon and required mastering substantial signal integrity and power integrity (SI/PI) challenges. The 4 Gbps mark represents a 20% rise from the previous maximum data rate of 3.2 Gbps for HBM2E.
The Expanding Universe Of MIPI Applications
Why this interface is no longer just about mobile phones. It’s hard to imagine today, but there was a time when mobile phones had no cameras and displays were tiny monochrome LCDs capable of displaying a phone number and not much more. The iconic Nokia 3310 announced Sept. 1, 2000, had an 84 x 48 pixel monochrome display and went on to sell 126 million units worldwide. You may still have one in your junk drawer.

Yesterday I woke early and had a breakfast of vitamins and painkillers so I could play tennis with a man named Cary Ng, who works as a freelance graphic designer here in Brooklyn. Most everyone I play against has a family history — or a mythology — to tell during changeovers and water-breaks. During our match Cary told me both his parents were Chinese, but he grew up in Puerto Rico. I told him that my neck was bothering me, that the pain behind my right shoulder would hamper my serve.

See Photos of Spanish Harlem in the ’80s by Joseph Rodriguez
Brooklyn-raised photographer Joseph Rodriguez captured everyday life in Spanish Harlem in the 1980s: children romping through playgrounds, residents performing Bomba Plena, traditional Puerto Rican music, and more somber scenes of drug addiction and children suffering from AIDS. Because Rodriguez spent so much time with the neighborhood’s residents without his camera, building their trust, some images are deeply intimate.
These photos of Spanish Harlem in the 1980s show the lush, tough life of a vibrant neighborhood
These photos of Spanish Harlem in the 1980s show the lush, tough life of a vibrant neighborhood Between 1940 and 1960, more than half a million Puerto Ricans left their home for the U.S. mainland. The vast majority of them—88 percent—ended up in New York City, and many of those were drawn to East Harlem, where a new community was taking hold in the tenements and brownstones of what was formerly known as Italian Harlem.
The East Side Story
For the last year, I've photographed gang life in East Los Angeles. My aim is to get to the core of violence in America, not just the physical violence, but the quiet violence of letting families fall apart, the violence of unemployment, the violence of our educational system and the violence of segregation and isolation. La Vida Loca, or the crazy life, is what they call the barrio gang experience. This lifestyle originated with the Mexican Pachuco gangs of the 1930s and 1940s.

"I love the barrio more than I was loved," Porky relates. Porky, 16, whose real name is Mike, describes how he was shot. His parents are "veteranos " (veteran gang members) from the previous generation in Maravilla. This gang started in Mexico in the 1920’s. Porky started in the gang when he was in the seventh grade.
