Into the Wild - The Best Music of 2025, So Far
This year has been one of the most important for my own musical endeavors. My band Solshade will be releasing an album this fall on Silent Pendulum Records. The feat itself is something I didn’t know I’d ever be able to accomplish, let alone with the events that surrounded the recording process. During the tracking process (December 2024), I ended up breaking multiple ribs and flatlining (e.g. dying ) after an unfortunate gnar-shredding incident (riding my bike to work).
Psycho-Frame - Salvation Laughs In The Face Of A Grieving Mother
public One part revival, one part modern ingenuity, all parts unadulterated, disgusting carnage. Psycho-Frame rewrites the script for deathcore with their debut album Salvation Laughs In The Face Of A Grieving Mother. In honor of Psycho-Frame’s bold ethos, we should tackle the elephant in the room outright. Deathcore is bloated. While I think it is the dominating subgenre, it’s rife with fluff. It is in vogue. In its defense, I get it.

Deadguy - Near-Death Travel Services
Feeling troubled? Are you exhausted by endless commodification? Out of place? Try Deadguy. Don’t call it a comeback, don’t call it a Lazarus. For the old heads, Deadguy are picking up where they left off, spitting in the face of the status quo. For newcomers like me, Deadguy resume ass-beating and situate somewhere between Chat Pile and late-era Agony Scene, Converge and Mugshot (or so I’m told). Wherever they land in your taste, the occasion is very stoke-worthy.
For Your Health - This Bitter Garden
The flora and fauna of This Bitter Garden are a splendor for the senses, as animalistic ferocity underpins this stellar sophomore output from delicate and dissonant masterminds For Your Health. Dichotomies are fragile. It always seems that at the fundamental level, “balance,” whatever it means, is always tugged at by imbalance; good by evil, and so forth. One always gives way to lose its identity in its counterpart.
