Josh Kozelj is a freelance writer based in Victoria, British Columbia. His work focuses on mental health and chronicles the brave stories of those working to erase the stigma. He has written for the Globe and Mail, CBC, and Tyee.
Since wandering into his university newspaper's office, the Martlet, in 2016, he has been a contributor. In 2017, he was hired as a Staff Writer, and for the past two years he's written as a Senior Staff Writer.
Kozelj also has experience covering media for the Victoria HarbourCats baseball club. Spending the summers of 2018 and 2019 writing daily game recaps, game notes prior to home games, and program features.
In August of 2019, Kozelj was recruited to the U SPORTS Correspondent program to cover university athletics across Canada. In 2020, he was named Correspondent of the Year by U SPORTS.
Kozelj also runs cross country and track for the UVic Vikes Varsity team, and was selected as a cross country Canada West Conference All-Star in both 2017 and 2018. He has also represented British Columbia at Canadian Nationals on three different occasions in his running career.
