Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

My first job in journalism was at The Gaudie Student Newspaper. I began in June of 2021.

How is social media changing news?

It's requiring output to be quicker, and allows for greater communication between journalists and the public.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Being a journalist means I can hold the powerful to account, and highlight the voices of the marginalised through my reporting.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

I use Twitter constantly to keep up with stories and make connections with other journalists and sources.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

The investigation I conducted into the University of Aberdeen's collection of stolen human remains from the colonial period.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

I'll be on the diamond playing baseball, on the bus commuting into Aberdeen, or going to see a film at the cinema!
