Jason Pominville and Thomas Vanek will be inducted into the Buffalo Sabres Hall of Fame on Thursday, Jan. 14 prior to the team’s home game against the Colorado Avalanche. Pominville and Vanek’s inductions will be the centerpiece of Hall of Fame Night, which will include a pregame ceremony, alumni appearances and special content throughout the evening. The Buffalo Sabres will host the Chicago Blackhawks for their 2026-27 home opener on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. The NHL announced home openers for all 32 clubs on Wednesday. The Sabres will open the season on the road against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday, Oct. 1.

Sabres hire John Davidson as senior advisor

The Buffalo Sabres have hired John Davidson as senior advisor, the team announced Monday. Davidson, 73, has spent 20 years in NHL front offices, including 18 seasons as president of hockey operations for St. Louis, Columbus and the New York Rangers. He adds yet another layer of experience to the Sabres’ front office, which last season hired Josh Flynn and Marc Bergevin as assistants under general manager Jarmo Kekäläinen.
