Indonesian thermal coal supplies have come under pressure as the integrated system for tracking shipment reports that is used by surveyors faces disruptions. A number of surveyors — entities that survey coal cargoes for quality and quantity — have been logged out of the government's marketing verification module (MVP) system, affecting the issuance of survey reports known as Laporan Surveyor (LS) and verification reports called Laporan Hasil Verifikiasi (LHV).

India's federal power ministry has extended the validity of directives to utilities to raise imports and boost electricity generation to meet an anticipated increase in power demand in coming months. The ministry has issued two separate orders recently, extending the validity of its previous directions to imported coal-fired utilities and domestic coal-based power plants.
