1 year later, Pacoima family rebuilds after illegal fireworks destroyed their home

It was an explosion that lit up the sky, but the July 3, 2025, Pacoima fireworks display was far from planned. The accidental ignition of stockpiled fireworks turned out to be destructive and deadly. In all three homes and 2 ADUs were destroyed, two more homes were damaged and a husband and father to young children died. "I heard a boom. I ran out here, and this part of the grass was on fire," neighbor Darlene Pete said.

Boyle Heights community calls for warehouse demolition as health concerns continue

A Riverside County pastor was killed and his wife was injured when their hotel collapsed during the pair of powerful earthquakes that struck near Caracas, Venezuela, last week. Romildo Delima, who led Worship Church Ministries in Riverside for the last two decades, is being remembered by congregants and friends as a special person. "We will miss him all the time. He's like a best friend for me," said Miguel Gonzalez-Mateo, a friend and fellow pastor. "We feel so sad in all the congregation.
