February 24 this year marks the second anniversary of the killing the New Bataan 5, which includes our clients Lumad teachers Chad Booc and Jurain Ngujo II. Now known as the New Bataan Massacre, and despite calls for accountability over their deaths, justice remains elusive.

Dubai, the land of superlatives, is hosting the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP 28) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. COP 28 started on November 30, and we remain to see whether the parties in Dubai will finally commit to a genuine course correction of global and national climate efforts.

On October 17, Climate Rights International (CRI) and Manila Observatory (MO) sent a letter to President Marcos Jr. through the Department of Environment and Natural Resources asking the President to halt the construction of the Kaliwa Dam until further investigation is made on the consequences of constructing such dam.
