What was your first job as a journalist?

Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes, back in college, though now, it seems light years ago. With laptops today, I feel like I went from driving a Model-T Ford to a spaceship.

Why did you become a journalist?
Loved writing ever since I was a child. I remember filling up copybooks with short stories that I would bring to my mother to read.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
The national story I did for ESPN.com in 2006 on high school wrestler A.J. Detwiler, whose parents were tragically killed.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Be open to do anything, and be as diverse as possible. Treat every story with the utmost attention, because these are people's stories.
