Last year Sara Moonves, the editor in chief of W magazine, got a text message from Sofia Coppola, a director whose films draw from girlhood ennui the way Monet drew from ponds. “Would you ever want to talk about doing a teen W?” Coppola asked.
The engagement maturity wake-up call: Why public sector consultation is entering a new era
If your organisation is running more consultations than ever before, yet facing more community resistance, the issue may not be the volume of engagement. It may not be your engagement team. It may not even be that one project that has somehow united retirees, ratepayers, local media and three Facebook groups under a single furious banner. It may be the engagement maturity of your organisation. A consultation opens. Submissions are received. A report is prepared.
Report: Citizen experience in APAC
Today citizens judge government interactions not just by whether they’re available digitally, but by how easy they are to access, use, and trust. Whether applying for permits or renewing licences, these services support important life moments and they play a critical role in shaping perceptions of responsiveness, efficiency, and trust.
Whitepaper: Reimagining public administration HR leadership in AI transformation
Artificial intelligence (AI) brings a fundamental change in the way agencies fulfill their missions, how employees work, and how the public maintains its trust. Despite the technology being at the forefront of conversations, it is important to remember the most consequential variable – the humans themselves.
Like it or loathe it? Tell us what’s really happening with AI in government
“The rise of powerful AI will be either the best, or the worst thing, ever to happen to humanity. We do not yet know which.” – Prof Stephen Hawking We still face more questions than answers on the future of AI in government. This is why every voice matters in a national research initiative into attitudes, readiness and next steps for responsible — and meaningful — AI implementation across Australia’s public service.
Whitepaper: Essential eight maturity level three compliance for federal and state agencies
The highly advanced nature of modern ransomware and cyberthreats that aim to extort PII and sensitive data make this issue a key cybersecurity concern for the public sector. For Australian Government agencies, raising their essential eight maturity to levels two or three significantly enhances ICT security postures by hardening backups as well disaster recovery (DR) capabilities while reducing vulnerabilities from internal and external threats.

Whitepaper: Collaboration in context – How to get it right in the APS today
The Australian Public Sector is no stranger to geopolitical volatility, fiscal constraint and heightened scrutiny. However, the combination of these challenges is changing how leadership feels and operates, as well as how attempts at collaboration succeed or fail. As the pressures of leadership converge, even the most well-run parts of the system experience fiction. This increases defensiveness and go-to-ground behaviour.

It was just a podcast. Now it’s Kelce Land
Just like radio stations of yore, podcasts have long supported themselves with commercial breaks and host-read advertisements. But last year, Amazon realized there could be another way. In August, the company took a sledgehammer to its podcasting arm, Wondery. What emerged from the rubble was a new and somewhat mysterious department called Creator Services, devoted to video podcasts.
