Two hundred fifty years is a big birthday. What does Independence Day mean to you? Sometimes, in the rush of ordinary living, we forget the huge sacrifices and courage it took to form a nation. Back in the mid-1700s, unrest led to marches which set the stage for peaceful protest against the oppressive rule of the British Empire. The passionate objections of high taxes would catapult the early colonists into a war. The Declaration of Independence gave birth to a new country and so much more.

Judy Bluhm The wait is over. The legendary Buc-ee’s has opened in Arizona. You would think that Sputnik has landed. Or possibly the Pope was visiting. No, the hoopla was for the grand opening of the massive 74,000 square-foot travel center. A cult favorite. A destination. We have the Grand Canyon, Sedona, and now we have Buc-ee’s. If you have never been to one of these mega-convenient stores and gas stations, it is quite an experience. No semi-trucks are allowed to use the 120 gas pumps.
