SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – Over the past several months significant federal budget cuts have been felt by South Dakota organizations. This year South Dakota Public Broadcasting, Feeding South Dakota and the South Dakota Humanities Council all lost significant support from the federal government. Two of the organizations even lost 100% of its federal dollars they’d received in the past.

SDPB alumni group created to help fundraising efforts Original

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – Former workers at South Dakota Public Broadcasting have created a group to support its fundraising efforts after it lost 100% of its federal dollars and now faces major cuts. In just a few months, 15 employees at SDPB are set to be laid off, along with a few TV, radio and educational services. Following the federal budget cuts, SDPB alumni and organizer, Michael Marek, worked at SDPB three different times and knew he wanted to make a difference.
