ABSTRACT Astronotus ocellatus, commonly known as ‘Oscar’ or ‘Apaiari,’ is a cichlid fish native to the Amazon basin, but has been introduced into various basins in Brazil, especially in the Northeastern region. This study investigates the parasitic fauna of A. ocellatus and examines the ecological relationship between parasitism levels and the host’s relative condition factor (Kn) in a population located outside its native range, within the Caatinga biome in Northeastern Brazil.
