The blooms of young sunflowers follow the sun, changing their position throughout the day. But when they reach maturity, they permanently face east, self-assured and strong-willed. This is a coming-of-age story— my favorite type of story. They're bittersweet, vulnerable, and (not) suited for public consumption. This coming-of-age story is my own. It's a tribute to the trials and triumphs of growing up, learning to be vulnerable, and maintaining a creative existence in a commodified world.
