During the hour-long, sold out forum the Bush's delivered a strong message about family values in America, and showed great pride in their son George W. There is a truly terrible pop tune from the ’80s called “Holding Out for a Hero.” Apologies for planting the earworm, but since President Trump’s back-and-forth-and-back-again comments on the neo-Nazi mayhem in Charlottesville last weekend I’ve been channeling singer Bonnie Tyler — holding out for a Republican hero in Washington, D.C. Ten years ago almost to this day I wrote a column about a nightmarish experience in the bleachers at Fenway Park during a Sunday night game. Friendly Fenway, I wrote, “where the beer and the F-bombs flow freely.” That night a group of middle-aged drunks sitting near us was relentlessly taunting Johnny Damon as he patrolled center field for the Yankees, calling his wife a slut and mocking his stutter.
