Design and realization of high performance textured lead-free piezoelectric ceramics through human-AI collaboration
Abstract Developing multielement doped Pb-free (K,Na)NbO₃ piezoelectrics often hindered by complex doping trends and tedious trial-and-error experimentation. Here, we present a human-in-the-loop, artificial intelligence guided materials design framework that utilizes large language models to capture implicit structure-property knowledge from prior literatures and propose new compositions.
Deep learning-assisted ultrafast ferroelectric domain imaging using atomic force microscopy
Abstract Piezoresponse force microscopy (PFM), a lock-in-based mode of atomic force microscopy (AFM), enables sensitive ferroelectric domain imaging. However, fast imaging for either massive measurements or studying fast dynamic behavior remains challenging because it suffers from a fundamental trade-off between fast acquisition and high signal quality.
Microstructure Optimization via Grain‐Boundary Segregation to Enhance DC Bias Dielectric Performance of BaTiO3 Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors (Adv. Mater. 1/2026)
Graphical Abstract Interface Segregation in Dielectrics In their Research Article (DOI: 10.1002/adma.202507233), Sung-Yoon Chung and co-workers overturn the long-standing reliance on multiple additives and costly rare-earth elements in MLCCs by demonstrating that a single acceptor-type additive enables superior dielectric performance.
Enhancing the Electrochemical Catalytic Performance of Novel Bifunctional Oxygen Vacancy-Enriched Silver Niobate (AgNbO3) through Electrochemical Activation
Enhancing the Electrochemical Catalytic Performance of Novel Bifunctional Oxygen Vacancy-Enriched Silver Niobate (AgNbO3) through Electrochemical Activation Introducing oxygen vacancies has emerged as a powerful strategy to enhance the electrocatalytic activity of materials for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). This approach enhances active site exposure, improves conductivity, and facilitates mass transport, thereby significantly boosting performance.
Expediting hole transfer kinetics through surface state modulation of a Ru-FeOOH and FeNi(OH)x dual-layer cocatalyst coated Zr-Fe2O3 photoanode for boosting photoelectrochemical water splitting - Journal of Materials Chemistry A (RSC Publishing)
Expediting hole transfer kinetics through surface state modulation of a Ru–FeOOH and FeNi(OH)x dual-layer cocatalyst coated Zr–Fe2O3 photoanode for boosting photoelectrochemical water splitting† The potential of a hematite photoanode for photoelectrochemical (PEC) water oxidation is primarily constrained by its sluggish water oxidation kinetics due to severe charge recombination at recombination surface states (r-SS).
Recent Progress in Devices Based on Magnetoelectric Composite Thin Films
The strain-driven interfacial coupling between the ferromagnetic and ferroelectric constituents of magnetoelectric (ME) composites makes them potential candidates for novel multifunctional devices. ME composites in the form of thin-film heterostructures show promising applications in miniaturized ME devices.
Prospects and challenges of electrocaloric phenomenon in ferroelectric ceramics
Prospects and challenges of electrocaloric phenomenon in ferroelectric ceramics The electrocaloric effect (ECE), in which the change in the material temperature with an application or removal of an electric field is one of the key phenomena of future highly efficient solid-state refrigeration devices.
Comprehensive biocompatibility of nontoxic and high-output flexible energy harvester using lead-free piezoceramic thin film
Piezoelectric devices have been regarded as plausible mechanical energy harvesting concepts due to simple structures and environmental stability without concerns about abrasion, humidity, and bulky heaviness.1–101. Hydrothermally grown CdS nanograin-sensitized 1D Zr:α-Fe2O3/FTO photoanode for efficient solar-light-driven photoelectrochemical performance
Well-defined CdS nanograin-sensitized one-dimensional (1D) Zr:?-Fe O3 nanostructured arrays with enhanced photoelectrochemical performance are synthesized directly on F-doped SnO (FTO) using the hydrothermal method. Owing predominantly to the appropriate photogenerated electron–hole separation and charge collection in 1D Zr:?-Fe O nanorods, hydrothermally deposited CdS/1D Zr: ?-Fe O samples exhibit improved photocurrent density over CdS/Fe O nanosheet prepared by other methods.
