MANILA, Philippines – The 99th Academy Awards are happening on March 14, 2027, and the Philippines wants in. The country aims to take home its first-ever Best International Feature Film title at the prestigious cinema awards, and has started its bid by shortlisting eight films. These entries were handpicked by a National Selection Committee following a criteria of 50% artistic merit, 30% cultural relevance, and 20% capacity to campaign.

Dizon co-founded the alternative rock and grunge outfit TEETH in 1993. Years later, he also began playing the drums for rock band Sandwich and electronic rock band Pedicab. He is also a prolific songwriter, and is the mind behind hit songs like “Laklak” and “Prinsesa” by TEETH.

MANILA, Philippines – It’s NEXTONE’s turn to bring its music to the Rappler HQ on Thursday, August 27! Formed in 2019, NEXTONE’s current lineup consists of Ezekiel on lead vocals and rhythm and lead guitars; Elijah on bass and vocals; Alean on drums, percussion, and backing vocals; and Ant on rhythm and lead guitars and backing vocals. NEXTONE’s sound leans toward modern rock, evidenced by tracks like “Kulay,” “Taft Avenue,” and “SA IYO,” to name a few.
