Colorado Parks and Wildlife is warning Pueblo County residents to watch for wildlife displaced by the Aspen Acres Fire. Due to lower snowpack over winter, there was less food available for large animals such as bears, elk, and deer to begin with this spring, said Justin Morris, a CPW wildlife manager. "Then you add a fire into the mix that burned up more than 100,000 acres of habitat — it scattered out a lot of the wildlife into areas like Colorado City and Rye," he said.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife is warning Pueblo County residents to watch out for wildlife displaced by the Aspen Acres Fire. With large animals such as bears, there can be a "conflict issue" as animals get into trash and dumpsters and even houses in search of food. Most of the large animals escaped the fast-moving wildfire, but many small game did not, CPW officials said.
