LUDINGTON, MI – It’s almost time for this highly anticipated summer tradition near the Lake Michigan shoreline. Nationally ranked in the top 100, the 58th annual West Shore Art Fair is scheduled for Fourth of July weekend, the Ludington Area Center for the Arts announced. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Ludington’s Rotary Park. In 2025, Sunshine Artist Magazine ranked the event 65th on its prestigious 200 Best list.

Results are in for Michigan’s coveted bear, elk license drawings

Hunters have been selected for Michigan’s 2026 wildly popular and hard-to-get bear and elk licenses. More than 100,000 hunters apply annually for these limited license seasons. This year, 6,278 bear licenses and 200 elk licenses are available. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources announced Monday that the annual drawing results are in: Hunters can check their status online, through the Michigan DNR Hunt Fish app or by calling 517-284-9453.

$300K repair project begins today on Tunnel of Trees southern slope failure

GOOD HART, MI – Two sections of Northern Michigan’s iconic Tunnel of Trees have been closed since April due to damage caused by historic flooding. Work begins today on one of them. The closures are along the curvy 22-mile stretch of M-119 overlooking Lake Michigan, which has been prone to failures like these due to its location on a steep, sandy bluff, said James Lake, spokesman for the Michigan Department of Transportation.
