Demonstrators for Gaza took to the streets of Kitchener once again on Jan. 13 at Carl Zehr Square to call for the end to the ongoing genocide in Gaza which hit its 99thday that day. The rally was organized by the Palestinian Youth Movement. The rally saw around 250 demonstrators and continued on for several hours within the downtown core.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas continued after a temporary ceasefire from Nov. 24 to Nov. 30. Waterloo Region residents continue to show support for Palestine. On Nov. 7, University of Waterloo Voices for Palestine (UWVFP) hosted a walkout, attended by hundreds of students and community members. Mar. 30 marks the annual Palestinian Land Day. This year, Waterloo Region saw its first ever Land Day Commemoration on Mar. 11 at Willow River Park Pavilion. Around 200 local Palestinian and non-Palestinian community members came together to enjoy a night of culture, observance, history and celebration.
