K. A. Shaji is a senior Indian journalist, writer, translator, and environmental advocate whose career of over two-and-a-half decades has been marked by uncompromising ground reporting on rural distress, ecological collapse, caste and tribal struggles, and developmental disparities from the southern parts of the country. In July 2025, he joined Outlook magazine as Senior Assistant Editor, further cementing his role as one of the country’s most incisive voices in public-interest journalism.

National Media Fellowship

1996 - Rural reporting

The fellowship worth Rs 1,00,000 was awarded to study on half a million Tamil repatriates from Sri Lanka, who having a near-animal existence in the hill regions of South India.
