This interview has been edited for clarity and length. Kacie Mei: When Every Year After was released, I kept seeing fans edit TikToks of your character saying that he has chemistry with everybody. Articles have popped up calling you the fan favorite. Marie Claire has said that they’re part of the Jordie fan club. What's it been like seeing this reaction to the show and to your character? Joseph Chiu: Oh, it's been incredibly validating.

Kacie Mei: I just watched the first four episodes yesterday so fast. As somebody who almost married for health insurance— Lee Sung Jin: [Laughs] KM: I want to thank you so much for your plot lines about health insurance woes, especially in California. LSJ: I wrote episode four in a day after a harrowing experience at a local LA hospital for 10-plus hours, so to me, that episode is pretty much a documentary [Laughs]. KM: I really enjoyed that episode. And that one you directed, right? LSJ: I did, yes.

Ever since the first episode of the latest The White Lotus season aired – featuring a trio of girlfriends taking a trip to Thailand – the internet has debated the three-person girls’ trip. Vogue even ran a piece subtitled “Never Take a Three-Person Girls’ Trip,” warning that someone always gets left out, drama is inevitable, etc.
