Contrasting thermophilization among forests, grasslands and alpine summits
Abstract Climate warming is shifting biological communities, with warmth-demanding species being favoured at the expense of cold-adapted species in a process referred to as thermophilization1,2,3,4. Because biodiversity responses often lag behind climate warming, climatic debts are accumulating in many ecosystems across the world5,6,7. Although we might expect that thermophilization and climatic debts will vary among habitats, standardized quantification across ecosystems is lacking.
Factors influencing fine roots decomposition rates in response to nitrogen addition vary across root characteristics
1 INTRODUCTION Globally, nitrogen (N) deposition is increasing due to fossil fuel combustion and N fertilizer application (Zhang et al., 2018) and has significantly affected litter decomposition as well as its role in carbon (C) and nutrient cycling (Janssens et al., 2010; Wei et al., 2023).
Leaf economic strategies drive global variation in phosphorus stimulation of terrestrial plant production - Nature Communications
Abstract Plant biomass and its allocation are fundamental for understanding biospheric matter production. However, the impacts of atmospheric phosphorus (P) deposition on species-specific biomass and its allocation in global terrestrial plants remain unclear. By synthesizing 5548 observations of plant biomass and its allocation related to P addition worldwide, we find that P addition increases plant biomass by an average of 35% globally.

A Data Reconciliation-Based Method for Performance Estimation of Entrained-Flow Pulverized Coal Gasification
1. Introduction Gasification of carbon-containing materials, such as coal and biomass, is a fundamental method for producing chemical feedstock and gaseous fuels, both of which are essential for industrial production and daily life [1]. Entrained-flow coal gasification is a clean coal utilization technology that utilizes pulverized coal particles reacting with limited oxidant to generate syngas at high temperatures and pressures.

Delivery of rapamycin by biomimetic peptide nanoparticles targeting oxidized low-density lipoprotein in atherosclerotic plaques
Delivery of rapamycin by biomimetic peptide nanoparticles targeting oxidized low-density lipoprotein in atherosclerotic plaques† Drug delivery systems based on biomimetic peptide nanoparticles are steadily gaining prominence in the treatment of diverse medical conditions. This study focused on the development of peptides that depend on ligand–receptor interactions to load rapamycin (RAPA).
Global forest gaps reduce litterfall but increase litter carbon and phosphorus release - Communications Earth & Environment
Abstract Ongoing global climate change and conventional forestry have led to a dramatic increase in new forest gaps, predicted to strongly impact litter turnover and nutrient cycling. Here we synthesized 8739 paired observations to quantify the impacts of naturally occurring and artificially created gaps on litterfall, litter decomposition, and the release of carbon and nutrients.

Excluding Roots or Mycorrhizal Hyphae Alters the Microbial Community and Function by Decreasing Available C and N in a Subtropical Chinese Fir Forest
2. Materials and Methods 2.1. Study Site The study site was located in the Sanming Forest Ecosystem and Global Change National Observatory and Research Station, Fujian Province, China (26°11′ N, 117°228′ E). This region experiences a mean annual temperature of 19.5 °C and an average annual precipitation of 1630 mm. The soil at the site is classified as an oxisol [28]. In 2019, we selected a 16-year-old Chinese fir plantation on which to conduct a root and mycorrhizal hypha exclusion experiment.
Responses of soil C pools to combined warming and altered precipitation regimes: A meta‐analysis
Main limitations and future perspectives A better understanding of the combined effects and interactions of warming and altered precipitation regimes on soil C pools is essential to predict the responses of soil carbon sequestration to climate change. However, the available experimental results still pose some limitations.
