Weird and Wonderful: A Conversation with Jaclyn Biskup about Lucky Breaks at The Brick in Interviews In March 2022, Jaclyn Biskup came across Yevgenia Belorusets’s book Lucky Breaks in the “Briefly Noted” section of the New Yorker. The magazine described the book as “surreal short stories…ethnographic in perspective but Gogolian in register” centering on Ukrainian women in the Donbas region living through the 2014 Russian invasion.
