To pursue truth while deeply understanding the nuances of barely knowing anything at all

Why did you become a journalist?
Because I was made to tell stories.

My high school yearbook. I was the editor-in-chief and made all the big decisions.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
A story about the people who are housing internally displaced Ukrainians.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Never stop celebrating good news.

Any time! I have strict Gmail notifications, so you won't bother me when I'm off the clock.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
The best pitches I receive are detailed and intentional, yet brief and compelling. If you can toe that line, you'll usually get a response.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
Anything that belongs in the spam folder
What's your favorite drink?
Virgin Shirley Temple.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
On the couch with my dog (even though that's usually where I am on my computer, too).

What's the most common misperception about your beat?
People often think that good news means puppies and kittens cuddling. It is, but it's also relentless and radical solution-seeking.
