Karen is a freelance travel and food writer. Her career started when she helped create Sassy magazine at age 20. Three years later, she left to freelance and edit at most of the top women's magazines in the US. She created a show for MTV, produced for the Jon Stewart Show, launched a show at Oxygen Media, then helped create and edit Jane magazine.
In 2006 she quit her job as deputy editor of SHOP Etc., put her belongings in storage, and embarked on the ongoing Trans-Americas Journey working road trip through the Americas - from the Arctic to Tierra del Fuego and everything in between.
She now covers travel and food from the road and her work has appeared in Afar, Travel+Leisure, Departures, Delta Sky, American Way, The Wall Street Journal Magazine, National Geographic Traveler, National Geographic Adventure, The Dallas Morning News, The Minneapolis Star-Tribune, RoadsandKingdoms.com, CNN Travel, BBC Travel, Luxury Latin America, NewWorlder.com and many more outlets.
