ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) – While many people rely on cell phones and the internet to stay connected, local amateur radio operators spent the weekend demonstrating how communication can continue when traditional systems fail. Members of the Albemarle Amateur Radio Club gathered at the Earlysville Volunteer Fire Department for Field Day, an annual nationwide event that allows amateur radio operators to practice emergency communication skills while introducing the public to ham radio.
