INTRODUCTION The prevalence of most head and neck cancers is decreasing due to the decreased prevalence of smoking; however, the rates of oropharyngeal cancers are on the rise.1 Tonsil cancer is a common malignancy within the head and neck and accounts for 15%–20% of all oropharyngeal tumors.2 One of the recognized features of tonsillar squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC) is its tendency to metastasize to the cervical lymph nodes.
