What was your first job as a journalist?
Working at the Jerusalem Post in Tel Aviv. I was thrown into the fire.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes. I started writing on one. By the time I was 21 it was already vintage.
How is social media changing news?
It's allowing everyday people to be part of the conversation, but facts are being distorted for "clickbait"

What does it mean to be a journalist?
To strive for something bigger than all of us. Maybe we call it truth, maybe "god"
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
I like to be emailed with relevant (to me) intro line, and well written press release with a solid quote. Images.

Why did you become a journalist?
Because I was annoying all my friends and family with too many questions. Also I could write in English in a foreign country.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I worked for my elementary school paper in Grade 4 and Grade 5. I did "investigative" journalism "The Case of the Lost Mitten" and Sports
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
The story about my dad's work "curbside shopping" for Canada's National Post. He died in 2018.

Study something like literature or science or engineering. Do journalism at night school or as an inten

Playing with my kids, cooking something

The New York Times. I read it every day.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That I only care about the Middle East. Business and culture is all connected to everything.
