Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday announced charges related to the cocaine trafficking ring against 13 Penn State students and the father of one student on Monday. A chaotic series of crashes and a police confrontation near Riverhead's Polish Festival ended Sunday with the arrest of a 34-year-old woman accused of driving recklessly through an area packed with festivalgoers. According to police, an officer assigned to festival security first spotted Blanca Jimenez-Tapia, of Riverhead, driving erratically near the event. Authorities say her Hyundai struck a parked vehicle on Sweezy Avenue and then attempted to flee the scene.

The Suffolk County Hate Crimes Unit is investigating graffiti discovered at a construction site for the Islamic Center of Mastic-Shirley. Police said a 911 caller reported the graffiti, which was found on a banner at the site, at approximately 3:45 p.m. Saturday. Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine condemned the incident in a statement posted on social media Saturday: "Hate has no home in Suffolk County. This afternoon, graffiti was discovered at the site of a new Islamic center in Shirley.
