Some of Waymo's first Texas robotaxis are headed for retirement soon. Their batteries, however, will get a second life on the electric grid. The Alphabet-owned autonomous vehicle company announced a partnership with B2U Storage Solutions, a California-based energy storage company that repurposes old vehicle batteries to help power local electricity grids.

Firefly Aerospace's defense business grows as subsidiary snags Air Force contract

A defense subsidiary of Firefly Aerospace Inc. has scored a deal to be one of the U.S. Air Force's data fusion system providers. SciTec Inc. won a $5.5 million contract to provide its data management and fusion system to the Air Force's modern battle management platform. Data fusion is the process of integrating multiple data sources to provide more consistent information.
