On March 29th we will experience both a solar eclipse and a new moon in the sign of Aries. This is the final eclipse in the Aries and Libra nodal axis, closing out a two year cycle that began in April 2023. Eclipses in this nodal axis will not be revisited for almost a decade. “Within astrology, eclipses are times of release and truth-telling.” Said New-York based astrologer, Lisa Stardust.

Numerous students and staff of San Jose City College gathered in the cosmetology building on Feb. 25 for an all-day symposium. The symposium discussed the importance of expanding one’s skill set to accommodate diversity in the cosmetology industry. It also provided free hair service and facials to those who volunteered. Tanesha Cartwright wears many different hats. Formerly a student at SJCC, she is a licensed cosmetologist and current faculty member.

Food and music highlighted the event Cheerful faces were seen all around as San Jose City College hosted its yearly cultural festival on April 19, with various ethnic and cultural minorities celebrating their heritage. Many different religious and culturally significant traditions were celebrated, including Burmese holiday Thingyan and the Islamic observance Eid, which were given the spotlight.
