Abstract Supply chain security faces significant risks from abrupt changes in demand, particularly those induced by disinformation. The widespread influence of social media and online news amplifies ambiguity and unpredictability, leading to delays, disruptions, and security breaches, impacting consumption patterns across critical supply chains and compromising network responsiveness, and creating vulnerabilities for adversaries.
