Next, we compared the level of S100A6 in those selected brain structures between control and stressed animals. The level of S100A6 was decreased in response to stress compared with the control group. The most dramatic changes were observed in brainstem structures, where its level in stressed animals was approximately one-third that in control animals ( Fig 1F ).
