Katherine “Rita” Barbeau, of Caseyville, IL was born June 20, 1951. She passed away peacefully May 26, 2025 at Collinsville Nursing Home. Rita grew up in Caseyville Township on her parents’ small ranch. She attended St. Albert the Great Grade School and O’Fallon Township High School. Rita married Juan (Woody) Woods and had two wonderful children, Jody and Leah, whom she adored. They later divorced. Rita was a woman with a strong Christian faith, a sweet loving soul.

Abstract Coastal upwelling regions are among the most productive marine ecosystems but may be threatened by amplified ocean acidification. Increased acidification is hypothesized to reduce iron bioavailability for phytoplankton thereby expanding iron limitation and impacting primary production.
