Introduction Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is the leading cause of heart failure (HF) in young people and the most common indication for a heart transplant. Reference Halliday1,Reference Rath and Weintraub2 DCM has an estimated population prevalence of 1 in 250 adults (0.4%) and is rarer in children (1 in ∼ 15,000 children, 0.007%) but represents one-half of all cardiomyopathies in children.
