Benton County Sheriff's Office reports death of deputy

BENTON COUNTY - The Benton County Sheriff's Office announced on Friday that one of its deputies died Thursday night. According to a Facebook post, Cpl. David Jones, 65, was found dead in his car at the Warsaw Walmart parking lot by his wife after he did not make it home. The post said his wife went to the Walmart to look for him after he was gone for an hour and a half. The sheriff's office said no foul play was involved, and Jones died of natural causes.

10 troopers graduate from MSHP's first accelerated law enforcement academy

JEFFERSON CITY - The Missouri State Highway Patrol announced that 10 troopers graduated from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy on Friday. A press release said the recruits accumulated points toward graduation in physical fitness, firearms and academics throughout 15 weeks at the Academy. Trooper Isaiah S. Lemasters accepted the Physical Fitness Award. Trooper Peter D. Hummel accepted the Academics Award. Trooper Orrin D. Hawkins accepted the Firearms Award. Trooper Chase A.

Law enforcement searching for man deemed 'extreme danger to the public' in Miller County

MILLER COUNTY - Authorities in the Miller County area are searching for a man who is an "extreme danger to the public," according to a probable cause statement. According to the statement, on April 24, Lake Ozark resident Ryan Pierce was charged with a felony offense after allegedly intruding into a man's home and biting his ear off. Pierce's wife and children were at the home of the victim, who deputies say had to be immediately transferred to Lake Regional for care.
