Nine European regulators coordinate crackdown against prediction markets

Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Spain were among the regions to push back against prediction markets. A number of the markets have already blocked popular operators Polymarket and Kalshi. On Wednesday, nine European gambling regulatory authorities announced a joint initiative targeting unlicensed prediction market platforms across the continent.

Swedish court upholds Spelinspektionen’s denial of bingo licence for retail terminals

Operator Föreningen Idrottens Spel i Sverige applied for a licence to provide bingo in approximately 297 retail outlets in 2023. The Administrative Court of Appeal (Kammarrätten) in Sweden’s Jönköping has upheld the gambling regulator’s (Spelinspektionen) decision to refuse a licence to operate non-temporary electronic bingo terminals outside of traditional bingo halls.
