The show must go on: struggling luxury brands seek catwalk boost in Milan and Paris

From wearables to robots to tabletop trinkets, the AI hardware scene is booming
Stand-alone AI devices didn't get off to the best of starts. Just to recap, I'm referring to the Humane AI Pin , which crashed and burned before it ever really took off, and the Rabbit R1 minicomputer, which arrived a little underbaked. Both devices were products of 2024, and when they failed to live up to the initial hype, it seemed like dedicated AI devices had hit an early dead end. But perhaps we were too quick to write them off.
Welcome to your keyboard-free future. This jazzy AI microphone is all you need now
For years, tech companies have been telling us that voice will eventually supersede touchscreens as the primary way we interact with our technology, but it's never quite happened — and I'd come to doubt whether it ever actually will. At IFA in Berlin , I saw something that made me think again. A team of folks who left design-forward British tech startup Nothing have created an AI microphone that takes us at least one step closer to our voice-controlled future.

Plaud One is a reinvention of headphones for the AI note-taking age
Last year, I made a bold declaration: There's no need to invent a new AI wearable, because the ultimate wearable technology is one you already own . I was referring to headphones — something most of us have used for decades. Plaud — one of the world's biggest AI note-taking companies — seems to agree, as it's now built its industry-leading agentic AI into a pair of headphones.

Google Has Been Fighting a Gargantuan Fine in Court. The Final Verdict? It Must Pay Up
When the EU hit Google with a massive fine back in 2018, the tech company was really hoping it would never have to pay up. Eight years of appeals later, and it turns out the company is out of luck and will have to cough up the fine to the tune of 4.1 billion euro ($4.7 billion).
