As Managing Editor, Katie handles editor, copy editor and freelance issues, as well as works with other departments to create the best editorial content for our readers.

Katie joined Bankrate.com as a Copy Editor in May 2005. She quickly moved to Chief Copy Editor where she was part of the team that earned a Society of Professional Journalists Sigma Delta Chi award for breaking news for Federal Reserve coverage and helped to establish Bankrate's presence on Facebook and Twitter.

What was your first job as a journalist?

My first job as a journalist was interning for NBC in NYC.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Email! And my favorite pitches are from people who have read our site, know what we cover and send pitches that really are relevant.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I worked for my high school yearbook, and I worked for my college paper. I was features editor, layout editor and ultimately editor in chief.
