Aug. 13, 2026, 2:07 p.m. CT Nashville police are investigating an officer-involved shooting by a Cheatham County Sheriff's Office deputy on Aug. 12. Metro Nashville Police Department detectives began their investigation on Wednesday, Aug. 13, after a member of the Cheatham County Sheriff's Office reported an officer-involved shooting, police officials said. The shooting occurred outside Eddie’s Hardware Market & Deli at 8898 on Highway 70 in Davidson County, near the Cheatham County line.

Aug. 13, 2026, 9:08 a.m. CT A three-year investigation targeting illicit drug sales across Sumner County has brought charges of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine against 16 individuals, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. A joint police operation involving officers from agencies in Smyrna, Sumner County, Nashville and surrounding areas began in August 2023.
