Canadiens Trade Domi, Pick to Jackets for Anderson
The Montreal Canadiens kicked off the 2020 NHL Entry Draft in style on Tuesday, sending Max Domi and a third-round pick in 2020 to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for winger Josh Anderson. Anderson is coming off an injury-plagued season in which he played just 26 games and scored only once. However, he scored 63 goals in 223 games over his last three seasons.
Do the Habs Have The Assets to Acquire Patrik Laine?
The fact that we’re speculating on Patrik Laine and his cost of acquisition is crazy. The fact that he actually seems to be available is almost unthinkable. Drafted second overall, Laine is a 6’4″, 205-lb. power forward who scored 138 goals before his 22nd birthday. In a good year, Laine is a game-changing sniper capable of 50-60 goals. In a down year, as many consider this to have been for him, he’s still a 30-goal scorer. So why is he available?
Which Teams Could Trade for Max Domi?
The Montreal Canadiens have a busy offseason ahead and one of the biggest decisions to make is regarding Max Domi. Rumours have surrounded the 25-year-old forward for the better part of the last year and were amplified earlier this week when he removed references to the Canadiens from his social media profiles. On its own, a subtle change to an Instagram profile is hardly enough evidence to signal an impending trade but it isn’t the only factor that could indicate Domi is on his way out.

67's forward Marco Rossi turning heads in his first season in North America
The road to the NHL is never an easy one; there are hundreds of thousands of kids around the world who grow up dreaming of one day playing in the best hockey league on the planet. Only the best make it and even then, there are so many obstacles to overcome. There are injuries, new teams and teammates, new cities and even new countries. These are all things that Ottawa 67’s rookie forward Marco Rossi has had to deal with. But he refuses to let any of them stop him from achieving his ultimate goal.
Ottawa post-rock duo carving their niche in local music scene
As the lights dim at Black Squirrel Books and Espresso Bar, the sound of deep bass and slow drums start to fade in. Slowly, the sound grows louder and the beat picks up. A string of LED lights illuminate a microphone stand, along with a lone light bulb behind the stage setup that helps create a tranquil serenity in the café. People start to gather around the makeshift stage area; some leaning on the surrounding bookshelves, some sitting on the floor with their shoes off.
Sens beat Jets 5-2 for their second straight win
It was a battle of David vs. Goliath on Saturday when the Winnipeg Jets rolled into Ottawa to take on the Senators. The Jets came into the game as the third-place team in the NHL while the lowly Senators sat dead last, but it was the Sens who came out on top with a 5-2 victory. Mark Stone scored two goals for Ottawa while Matt Duchene added a goal and an assist. Ryan Dzingel and Zack Smith had the other goals for the Senators.
Head for West Records making their mark on Ottawa's music scene
In an era when sites like YouTube, Facebook and Twitter offer the ability to live stream, anyone with a cell phone and a data connection can attend a concert and make it readily available to anyone who wants to watch it. That makes it difficult for up-and-coming local bands to break into the scene and, for Adam Moore, co-founder of Head for West Records, that was one of the reasons he got into the industry.
Sens head into All-Star break in dead last after 3-2 loss to Coyotes
Vinnie Hinostroza had two goals and an assist as the Arizona Coyotes beat the Ottawa Senators 3-2 on Tuesday. The loss drops Ottawa to dead last in the league heading into the All-Star break after wins from the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks. Ryan Dzingel scored his 20th goal of the season with just under eight minutes to go in the third to make it a one-goal game but that’s as close as the Senators would get.
Sens lose 3-2 to Washington in Högberg's first career start
The Ottawa Senators dropped their fourth straight game on Saturday, losing 3-2 to the Washington Capitals on in what would be a milestone game for a number of players. Marcus Hogberg made his first career NHL start in net for the Senators, allowing three goals on 24 shots. He was shaky through the first period and a half but settled into the game nicely over the second half. Senators head coach Guy Boucher thought the rookie goalie did the best he could against the defending Stanley Cup champions.
Sens can't complete comeback, lose 4-3 in OT to Vancouver
Hours after acquiring Anders Nilsson from their opponent for the night, Marcus Högberg showed that he won’t be giving up the net in Ottawa that easily. The rookie goalie, playing in only his third NHL game, stopped 41 of 45 shots on Wednesday against the Vancouver Canucks. After being outshot 17-5 in the first period, the Senators’ bid for a comeback fell just short as they lost 4-3 in overtime.
Sens leading scorer Max Lajoie a mystery man to baffled Algonquin students
Algonquin students were the butt of an embarrassing, yet good-natured prank on Oct. 23 when Ottawa Senators rookie defenseman Max Lajoie showed up, disguised as a CTV News reporter. Students were approached by a CTV employee and asked if they were Sens fans. The ones who said yes were then asked if they were interested in participating in a segment about the team. Then they were told that they would be talking to an “intern” who was doing his first on-air report.

The Red Cross said that there are still around 80 families staying in hotels out of the 927 who were displaced in the powerful storm. The extra money comes mere weeks after a $1 million donation from Quebec’s previous Liberal government.

The Algonquin Thunder women’s soccer team failed to clinch a playoff berth on Saturday, losing 3-0 to the Seneca Sting. Carley Uddenberg had two goals for the Sting while Ellie Hayes had the other goal. Hayes’ goal came six minutes in and had the Thunder chasing the game right from the start. They managed to stay in the game until the 38th minute when Seneca got two quick goals from Uddenberg just under two minutes apart. Uddenberg’s first goal came off a great individual effort.

Marco Natoli scored the lone goal for the Thunder after an ugly turnover from Colts goalkeeper Chimdubem Oneyka. Oneyka botched a goal kick around 55’, putting the ball right into Natoli’s feet mere yards outside of the penalty area instead of downfield. Natoli then fired a strike into the bottom right corner to cut the Colts’ lead to 2-1.

Hard work and dedication leads Algonquin grad to job with NHL.com
It’s a cold Thursday night in Ottawa and the Tampa Bay Lightning have just rolled into town to take on the hometown Ottawa Senators. The season has been a write-off so far but that doesn’t stop the Sens from coming to the rink to work hard and do whatever they can to make life difficult for the Lightning. Tampa is the NHL’s best team, of course. While the season is essentially over for the Sens, things are just getting started for Callum Fraser.

Why Aren't the Montreal Canadiens Interested in Vadim Shipachyov?
Earlier this week, Sportsnet reported that the Vegas Golden Knights have given Vadim Shipachyov permission to seek a trade. Vegas has nine defensemen on one-way contracts while Shipachyov has a two-way deal. This means that he does not require waivers to be sent down, which makes him the most logical choice to be moved back and forth between the Golden Knights and Chicago Wolves of the AHL.
Montreal Canadiens Should Rest Carey Price and Give Charlie Lindgren Chance
The Montreal Canadiens are off to one of the worst starts in the existence of their franchise history and for once, Carey Price is largely to blame. He has been fighting pucks, giving up rebounds, losing position and letting simple pucks get past him. Because of this, he currently has a 3.55 GAA and save percentage of .890. He has allowed 26 goals thus far, which puts him in a three-way tie with Henrik Lundqvist of the New York Rangers and Toronto’s Frederik Andersen for most in the entire league.
Montreal Canadiens: Five Worst Trades of the Last Decade
Every team has had their fair share of bad trades. The Montreal Canadiens have been around for over 100 years, so bad trades are inevitable. Of course, different eras of the NHL have different effects on the trade market, so for the purpose of this article, I’ll only be looking at trades that have taken place in the last 10 years. In the summer of 2010, the Canadiens had just come off an incredible playoff run that, as the lowest ranked playoff seed, nobody expected them to make.
Montreal Canadiens: Key Dates for 2017-18 Season
Now that summer is starting to wind down and preseason schedules have been released, it’s time to start looking forward to the season ahead instead of back at the season that was. The Montreal Canadiens are always one of the more entertaining teams in the NHL and that doesn’t change in 2017-18. There are numerous games on the Habs schedule this year that will be exciting to watch, but the following handful of games are simply must-see.
Top 5 Canadiens Trades of the Last Decade
Since the NHL implemented the salary cap, player movement has become more popular than ever. As soon as a trade goes down, fans and the media start looking up statistics and salary cap implications to see who got the better deal. The only problem is that it can be years before a true winner emerges. Even then, occasionally a trade works perfectly for both clubs and there is no clear winner or loser.
Projecting Lines for the 2017-18 Canadiens
Now that we’re a little over a week into the free agent signing period, a lot of teams around the NHL more or less know what their teams are going to look like heading into the 2017-18 season and the Montreal Canadiens are no exception. After announcing the signing of forward Alex Galchenyuk last Wednesday, the Habs have 22 roster players signed and it appears as though GM Marc Bergevin is done tinkering via the free agent market.
Montreal Canadiens Top 4 Prospects 2017
Over the last five to seven years, the Montreal Canadiens have typically been a playoff team, usually finishing near or at the top of their division. While that kind of success is great for such a passionate fanbase, it has left the club with a shortage of top prospects. Besides selecting Alex Galchenyuk third overall in 2012, the Canadiens have picked inside the top 15 only one other time since 2007, when they selected Ryan McDonagh 12th overall.
