Awards

U.S. News & World Report Q1 2024 4E Award - Edge

2024 - Editorial Innovation

"Edge: An individual or team who develops a process/product/story/idea that is unique and innovative Award: Individual Award Q1 2024 Edge Recipient: Kayla Randolph, Associate Editor Kayla's roles and responsibilities changed this past January. Previously, she was a copy editor, but a few months ago she started interacting with freelancers and assigning her own articles. Knowing that I wanted to try and get 1PE (first-person experience) in our 360 Reviews as much as possible, Kayla took it upon herself to create a Google Form/survey to distribute in the Pets Slack channel to poll U.S. News employees who might have some of the products we feature in our articles to get a quote from them to include for EEAT. She was not asked to do this, but I was thoroughly impressed with her initiative. We ended up creating a #productswelove Slack channel to expand this process, and we now have more than 50 people in it and are collecting 1PE across many more categories. I also had two people from leadership come tell me they loved the idea and said they were going to replicate it for their verticals (Cars and Travel). Talk about having an impact on people!"
