Why did you become a journalist?
I love translating complicated information and drilling it down into readable material. I also love people, which is a definite plus.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Take as many internships as you possibly can.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
If I'm not by the computer, I'm most likely hiking, running, or doing some other outdoor activity that gets me away from my phone.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
For education, it is that the beat requires simply writing features about accomplished students. It is a mix of so many different beats.
