Mayor Zohran Mamdani is standing by Schools Chancellor Kamar Samuels after reports that he is under investigation for his handling of a no-bid contract while serving as a Department of Education superintendent. At issue is Samuels' approval of a $180,000 contract with Language Learning Network, a company that provides language teachers to schools. The contract was split into multiple payments that allowed it to bypass the city's competitive bidding process, according to The New York Times.
